Silver maple’s natural habitat is the Eastern US and Canada. Its fruits (Samarae) are covered by a wing-shaped fibrous tissue that allows dispersal by spinning just like a helicopter propeller, as they fall from the tree and drift away from it carried by North America’s springtime winds.
