Valerio Vincenzo is an Italian-born (1973) and French-naturalized photographer based in Paris since 2014. Before becoming a full-time professional photographer in 2004, he worked as a strategic consultant and NGO executive, experiences that shaped his sensitivity to social dynamics, geopolitics, and human narratives. Today, he collaborates as a freelance photographer with major media outlets while pursuing long-term artistic projects focused on how reality is framed, represented, and understood.
Valerio currently serves as Director of Photography at GEO magazine (France), where he brings his editorial expertise and visual insight to one of Europe’s leading platforms for documentary storytelling.
He is internationally recognized for his acclaimed project "Borderline, les frontières de la paix", a multi-year exploration of more than 20,000 kilometers of European borders rendered invisible through the Schengen Agreement. Through this work, Vincenzo examines borders not only as geopolitical lines, but as psychological and symbolic thresholds—inviting viewers to reflect on coexistence, identity, and the meaning of unity in Europe today.
His photography has appeared in publications such as Le Monde, CNN, and many international outlets. He has been featured in Hot Mirror Edition 14, alongside photographers including George Steinmetz, Arko Datto, Martin Kollár, and Emily Garthwaite, further establishing his role at the intersection of documentary and conceptual photography.
With a practice rooted in clarity, curiosity, and a deep engagement with contemporary issues, Valerio Vincenzo continues to challenge how we perceive borders—between nations, between people, and within ourselves.
