Gil Bartz is a freelance photographer and cinematographer based in Frankfurt am Main. He was born in Braunschweig, Germany in 1981. After completing his studies in 2002, he started to work in the television industry as a camera–assistant. In 2007 he quit his job to become a cinematographer.
He studied Cinematography at the University for Film and Television “Konrad Wolf“ in Potsdam – Babelsberg. He graduated in 2012. For the next two years he has travelled through the Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Russia working on personal photo-projects. From 2015-2016 he focused his work on the European migrant crisis. Therefore he travelled to Turkey, Greece and Macedonia. Since 2022 he is working on a long term photo project focusing on the impact of the climate crisis in Germany.
