Paula Bronstein is an American award-winning independent photojournalist with a career spanning over four decades. She is renowned for documenting humanity, shedding light on compelling global issues, and covering war, conflict, political turmoil, and natural disasters. From 2001 to 2021, Paula extensively covered the war in Afghanistan, culminating in her internationally acclaimed book, Afghanistan: Between Hope and Fear (U. Texas Press, 2016). Since 2022, she has frequently been on assignment in Ukraine. Prior to her independent work, Paula spent 15 years as a staff photographer for American newspapers before joining Getty Images in Asia from 2002 to 2013. Her powerful work has been published and exhibited worldwide.
