Pim Ras (54) was born in Rotterdam and when he saw the sports-photographers in football stadium de Kuip in Rotterdam he knew on his 12th that he wanted to be one of them later as he grew old. His career started at the age of 16 when he made his entree on the football pitch of Ajax Amsterdam as photographer of local newspaper 'De Echo". There he met Cor Vos, a famous cycling photographer and there the contact was made with Algemeen Dagblad, the second biggest newspaper of the Netherlands. Today , AD, is still Pim's biggest client and podium. The focus of the work of Pim is sports- and portrait-photography. With his work he earned 49 prizes at the Silver Camera photo-competition in The Netherlands. He hopes the Olympics in Tokyo will be his 10th Olympic Games and he photographed all European and World Championships football from 1998.
