Kiran is an award winning photographer working throughout Europe and Asia, concentrating on social political topics and the human experience.
An accomplished documentarian, his reportage work is primarily concerned with issues of migration, human rights and political representation. He has covered stories as diverse and complex as drug smuggling around the Mexican border to the devastation of the Australian Bush Fires to the tragedy of the Mediterranean migration crisis and continues to document major events around the world.
In 2019 he worked extensively in Hong Kong recording the pro-democracy movement that swept through the territory, examining the role of youthful rebellion, colonial rule, religion, food and culture within Hong Kong, attempting to show the complexity of the issues around the protest within a wider political context. His current project sees a commitment to document the ongoing issues around democracy and societal change in post-conflict Armenia as well as covering the current conflict in Ukraine and Refugee crisis.
Ridley was named Editorial Photographer of the Year 2020 in the Lucie IPA Awards and won the Kolga Tbilisi Reportage Award and TAPSA Scholarship for his reportage on Hong Kong.
His photography has been recognised in Poyi, The Siena Awards, World Humanity Awards, the Association of Photographers ‘Document’ Awards, Ian Parry Award, the UK Picture Editor’s Awards, The Observer Hodge Award and The Tom Webster Award.
