With a 32-year career as an engineer, I discovered my passion for landscape photography during my solo treks through the Dolomites in 2017. The towering peaks and vast wilderness provided endless opportunities to capture breathtaking scenes. I fell in love with those twilight mornings and starlit nights, when the world was still and silent—perfect moments to immerse myself in solitude and capture nature’s beauty. Since then (especially more so after I retired!), photography has become more than just a passion; it is my life and breath, a way to see and experience the world.
In recent years, I have also ventured into street photography, documenting the rhythm of daily life in urban settings. This allowed me to explore the contrast between the solitude of nature and the bustling movements of human life, weaving together a visual narrative of both worlds.
My approach to photography continues to be guided by one of my favorite quotes: "To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other, and to feel. That is the purpose of life." I seek moments that often go unnoticed, capturing life in its rawest form and immersing myself deeply in every scene. Photography for me is not about distance, but about connection - whether it is with nature, people, or a passing moment, it is a way to uncover emotions, stories, and perspectives that might otherwise go unnoticed. It brings people and places closer, bringing together different worlds through a shared visual language.
One proud moment stands out in my photography journey thus far: my photograph “Sneak Peak” was awarded 2nd place in the Singapore National Award category of the 2018 Sony World Photography Awards. It remains one of my favorites from my 2017 winter trip to the Canadian Rocky Mountain, as it embodies two simple principles I live by - appreciating the beauty in simplicity and being grateful for the wonders of Mother Nature.
