Regula Tschumi is a social anthropologist PhD and photographer based in Berne, Switzerland.
Since 2006 she photographed mainly in Africa. Her documentary images about the figurative coffins and the funeral rituals in Ghana have been shown in many museum exhibitions in Europe and in the USA, and they were published in numerous books, international magazines, and newspapers.
Since 2018 she also got some recognition for her street photography. She participated in several group shows like Street sans Frontières, Treviso Photographic Festival, Venice Photo Lab or Eyeshot Open Call, and her photographs were in many group shows with Women Street Photographers.
Tschumi was a finalist at SIPA, PISPA, LSPF or Fujifilm moment. She also won a third prize at the Miami Street Photography Festival 2019, a first prize at the Italian Street Photography Festival 2020, and in 2021 the Patty Fogarty award by Women Street Photographers New York.
Tschumi is one of the 100 photographers represented in Gulnara Samoilova’s book "Women Street Photographers" (Prestel 2021) and her photograph was also published on the back cover of this volume.
