Pietro Di Giambattista was born in Pannarano (BN) in 1956 and lives and works in Rome. After technical studies he devoted himself (simultaneously to university studies of psychology) to the continuation of the study of classical guitar with the aim of becoming a concert artist. Later, around 1991, he decided to abandon the concert world and turned after some interesting approaches to photography, devoting his attention mainly to landscapes and portraits. In 1992 he won the 1st prize in a national photography competition in Ercolano (Naples). In 1997 he enrolled in a photographic workshop at the Toscana Photographyc Workshop held by the famous English landscape photographer Eddie Ephraums. From that moment he starts taking part in several workshops at the Toscana Photographic Workshop which will decisively determine his professional growth. He attended among other workshops with Paolo Pellegrin and Antonin Kratochvil. In 2000 he met Francesco Zizola in Massa Marittima at the Toscana Fotofestival and at the Polaroid laboratory he met Maurizio Galimberti. He attended a workshop with Michael Ackerman and subsequently with Yury Kozyrev in Rome. He also enrolled in the Photoreporte Professional Initiation Course held by the Ansa Photographer Rolando Fava at the "Graffiti" Permanent School of Photography in Rome, directed by the Photographer and Journalist Gianni Pinnizzotto. In 2001 he sent a selection of portraits that are part of his work "Nomadi" to the prestigious World Press Photo and he wins the third place( 2002 ediction) in the Portraits category. Also in 2002 he won the 7th International Photography Edition of Solighetto (Treviso), an award that allowed him to publish his first book "Nomadi". He subsequently received many honorable mentions in numerous international competitions. Was a finalist in 2016 for the Photographer's Forum Award, and obtained first place at the ND AWARD 2016 in the Editorial –Daily Life category. In 2017 he obtained 3rd place at the Siena International Photography Award in the Monochrome category. In 2018 he won 1st place and was photographer of the year at the Monovision Award. Also in 2018, he received the honorable mention at the Photographer's Forum, the honorable mention at the ND Award and the Remarkable Award at the Siena International Photography Award. In 2019 he won the second place in the photojournalism category at the Fine Art Photography Award, second place in the photojournalism category at the Monovision Award and Silver in the Portfolio section at the Moscov International Photography Awards.
