Athanasios Maloukos was born in Lamia, Greece, where he spent his school years. He studied Civil Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens with scholarships.
Since then he lives and works in Lamia where he is also involved in to movie exhibition business.
He studied at the Department of Anthropology of Religions at UCLA.
He began traveling and taking photos from a young age. Eventually, he set out on a personal journey to remote corners of the world, motivated by his innate curiosity about what lies in the "unknown" places of our planet...
Armed with an insatiable thirst for wandering and a passion for capturing the essence of different cultures and human experiences, he records through his lens not only the daily lives of people, but also how they express themselves through their customs, rituals and religions.
Beyond the brilliance of his striking images lies a lifestyle of dedication, adaptability and resilience, as he overcomes language barriers, unpredictable circumstances and unfamiliar local customs to bring his experiences closer to those who view his work.
His photographic archive is a visual mosaic of unknown cultures, remote tribes, spectacular rituals and everyday activities, offering viewers a profound glimpse into the many facets of the human spirit.
