I’ve always been fascinated by animals
But it was only on a trip to Rwanda in 2013 when I first picked up a camera to photograph Mountain gorillas.
Since then I've traveled to some of the world's most remote wilderness. Hiking up 4.500 meters in the Indian Himalayas in search of Snow leopards, and tracking Siberian tigers at -45°C in the forests of Far East Russia.
Why am I doing this? I guess it's the challenge to photograph these often hard to find animals in their natural environment. By sharing their beauty with the world I hope to raise awareness about their existence and the importance to protect their habitats.
Over time I have developed a particular interest in DSLR camera traps. The combination of wide angle lenses and external flash allows me to capture intimate images of my subjects in their true element, the night.
I enjoy uncovering the personalities of the wildlife I photograph, their faces and expressive eyes. And perhaps that’s the reason why I’m especially drawn to big cats.
I’m from Germany and work in Dubai where I live with my wife Catherine. The central location of Dubai has given me the opportunity to focus on projects in India, Africa and the Far East. This is where I spend most of my time…
