Daria Scolamacchia is a photoeditor and is the coordinator of the Photography department of the IED (European Institute of Design) in Rome, where she teaches Design Methodology and Phenomenology of Contemporary Arts. She curates exhibitions, projects and photographic volumes.
From 2013 to 2018 she worked at Fabrica, a research center on communication, as coordinator of the photographic department and editorial consultant, following the creation of books and exhibitions. Among others, she was Art director of the Up to Now retrospective. Fabrica Photography, presented in 2017 at the European Photography Festival in Reggio Emilia and at the Landskrona Foto Festival, in Sweden.
In 2018 she was selected to be part of the jury of the 6x6 Global Talent Program of the World Press Photo and since 2015 she has collaborated with the International magazine.
She was co-author of The Gold Medals, published by Contrasto, which traces the history of photography from 1955 to 2015 through the winning images of the five longest-running and most prestigious photographic awards in the world.
From 2008 to 2013 she worked in the photographic department of the weekly magazine Io donna of Corriere della Sera, writing about photography for Solferino 28, the Corriere.it blog.
Between 2006 and 2008 she was involved in editing and production of photographic services for the Contrasto agency. She trained in the Roman newsrooms of the Associated Press Photo news agency and APTN (Associated Press Television News).
