Country: Australia 🇦🇺
Natalia is a photographer and content producer. For the last 15 years she has documented social and environmental issues for the United Nations, the Earth Institute at Columbia University, and various development and wildlife conservation NGOs through photography, text, and video.
Her work has taken her all over the world, finally to Africa where she has been based, in Kenya, for the last ten years.
A former radio presenter and producer for SBS Australia, Natalia studied media and communications at the University of NSW, where she specialised in journalism and audio-visual production. She is currently finishing her year-long diploma in photography at TAFE Sydney, focusing on studio lighting and commercial imaging.
Natalia is passionate about indigenous cultures and traditions, and much of her personal time finds her travelling to remote communities, to learn about their stories and way of life. She has been photographing Ethiopia's cultural heritage since 2009. Moving to spend a year in the capital Addis Abeba, she began exploring Orthodox Christian practices and monuments in the holy cities of Lalibela and the mountains of Tigray. Ever since, she has returned to photograph the people and communities who worship in the country’s ancient rock churches, dating back to the 6th century and beyond.
Natalia’s personal work and incurable sense of adventure usually finds her camped under the stars, with her trusty four-wheel drive. Her portraits and landscapes pay homage to the beauty and rich cultural history of East Africa, and people and communities the world over. You can see more of her work at: www.nataliamroz.com
