Born in 1985 in Tunceli, a province in eastern Turkey, he studied Journalism and Philosophy at Ankara University, Faculty of Communication. Yıldırım's work has taken him to many of the world's most dangerous places, including Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria. His work has been recognized with numerous awards in photojournalism and his images have appeared in publications around the world. He continues to work for Milliyet Newspaper, part of Demirören Media, one of Turkey's largest media organizations, and is currently working on news and photography projects focusing on war, disaster and climate crisis and its impacts.
