Sergio emilio Montúfar codoñer

Country: Guatemala 🇬🇹

Sergio, inspired by starry nights from a young age, has developed a profound connection with astronomy.

Harnessing the power of digital technology, Sergio realized that through astrophotography and time-lapse photography, he could capture his passion and share it with the public, inspiring others to observe the sky. These modern techniques not only document reality but also transform it into works of art, revealing what our eyes cannot perceive. To create his astrophotographs and time-lapse images, he utilizes modified digital cameras, drones, and even explores the capabilities of mobile phones. In addition, he integrates various applications for planning, execution, and post-production, blending digital tools seamlessly into his creative process.

His work has resulted in a historical record of the daytime and nighttime skies across Guatemala, Mexico, Honduras, Costa Rica, Peru, and Argentina. At the Planetarium Ciudad de La Plata, Sergio honed his skills to inspire and educate through imagery, communicating complex concepts of astronomy, geology, and meteorology through immersive formats like Full Dome and VR.

His approach spans from in-depth research to public outreach, with a strong focus on preserving astronomical heritage.

Recognized as one of the most creative minds in the region by FORBES, Sergio's work has also been featured in National Geographic, solidifying his position as a leading force in both the art and science communities.
