Gayle Sheahen

Country: United States 🇺🇸

Based in the Northwoods of Danbury, Wisconsin, Gayle Sheahen is a wildlife
photographer who spends her days immersed in the places where wild things roam. A
true Northwoods adventurer, she is known for capturing the beauty, grit, and spirit of
wildlife through powerful, intimate imagery. From black bears moving through dense
forest to foxes at first light, soaring birds, playful otters, and other native species of
Burnett County, many of her subjects are found quite literally in her own backyard. Her
work also takes her beyond Wisconsin, photographing wildlife across Canada and the
rugged landscapes of Alaska. Through patience, respect, and countless quiet hours in
the field, Gayle has developed a deep understanding of animal behavior, allowing her
to create images that feel alive and authentic. Over more than a decade, her
award-winning photography has appeared on numerous magazine covers and in
publications across the United States and Europe. In 2026 alone, her work includes
four magazine covers, multiple interior features, selection for the Discover Kodiak
Alaska Visitor Guide cover, and two full two-page spreads in Alaska Magazine. Her
creative journey began in equestrian photography before transitioning fully into
wildlife, combining her lifelong love of animals with her adventurous spirit and artistic
vision. Through her work, Gayle seeks to capture not just images, but emotion,
connection, and the quiet truth of the natural world—encouraging others to appreciate
and protect it. Northerngaylephotography.com
