Arunava is a macro shutterbug whose entry into the world of photography was a bit of a happy accident. A hobby taken up as a pill for mental fitness a decade ago has now turned into his passion. Majoring in the life sciences, Arunava has always been interested in the diverse world of insects, which is amply manifested in his lush green home state of West Bengal. He began his explorations by clicking colorful wing patterns in butterflies and is currently focused on the secret lives of the Lynx and Jumping spiders. Although not so much known for social behavior, the Jumping spider's lifetime has two photogenic phases: infant care and predation, actions that Arunava captures in single-shot clicks. Dreaming big, Arunava wants to leverage the aesthetic craft of photography in full-fledged documentation of myriad spider species. Hopefully, this will leave a lasting impact on the conservation of their habitat, which is in grave peril due to rapid climate change.
