I’m Ana Joaquina Muñoz, a documentary photographer from Puebla, Mexico. For years, I’ve been focusing my career around the cultural richness and diversity of Mexico, specifically in how these factors make themselves present within the daily life of the characters that inhabit unique spaces intrinsically attached to their communities, traditions, activities and circumstances.
Being able to capture these singular elements of the Mexican identity have shaped my understanding of the mythos and iconography around my own role as an observer. With my work I try to honor the characters that I photograph and share the most authentic glimpse of their personal story.
