Country: Netherlands 🇳🇱
Photography has been a part of who I am and the way I see the world since the age of 11. I rediscovered my passion in the early days of digital and for quite some time I focused on travel and wildlife.
In 2017, I fell in love with street photography, and I haven’t looked anywhere else since. I feel I have found the ultimate way to express my artistic side; also, I like the social aspect of street photography. It can be very inspiring to meet up and shoot together with other street photographers; sometimes in my hometown and sometimes in cities all over the world.
I have realized quite a few projects over the last few years. The first of which was my beach project ‘Pier-to-Pier’ about the local sea bathing culture in Scheveningen. This project led to a book and quite a few exhibitions, one of which was in the open air on the Pier of Scheveningen, lasted half a year and was witnessed by more then 200.000 people. I have since started many other projects, some on the same beach and some in more urban areas that have led to many publications, international awards and exhibitions.
Recently I have started a workshop collective (@Zwanworkshops) with local photographers. The idea is simple: to organize street photography workshops in cities together with local photographers as to make sure that participants can enjoy the best possible program. Fueled with local expertise and inspiration, this is a very powerful and attractive concept which I’m very happy to have launched. And it already has been welcomed by many.
I feel that there is still so much more to explore and to realize in street photography. So, I’m really looking forward to all these new discoveries…
