I have visited the Kgalagadi Transfrontier more than 13 times in the past and have never seen the Black-backed Jackals hunt birds at the waterholes. When I returned there in January 2015 I was fortunate to see them hunting on a few days. I was lucky to get this clean image as the Jackal jumps towards a Sandgrouse which he just missed. Most of the attacks lead to a mass of birds accross the frame and the Jackal hidden behind the birds,
