When Nelio arrived at Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary he had to quarantine for 3 months before joining other chimps. Sadly the pet trade and poaching are still a huge issue in Sierra Leone. Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary represents a lifeline for our closest relatives.
