A lesser horseshoe bat hunts over meadows on a clear night. Bats came in for a lot of blame during the global pandemic but in reality it’s humans that are pushing bats to the brink. Habitats have been decimated by farming and development, leaving bats like the lesser horseshoe bat rare and in decline in Britain. To show this important relationship between the bat and its habitat and to avoid causing disturbance, the photographer used red filters.
