Come High Water

Come High Water
by Mac Stone

The Everglades is defined by a wet season and dry season. Climate change has made these seasonal fluctuations less predictable and less stable. During the dry season when rain is scarce, mammals and birds alike begin nesting. This winter when three inches of rain fell over two days, it flooded a nest of raccoons forcing the mother to rescue her babies and relocate them. Photographed with a custom camera trap.
