Luis Theis is a young artist who was arrested on May 18th, 2016 during a protest against Nicolas Maduro’s government. He was accused of assaulting a female officer of the National Police who was trying to block the demonstrators in Caracas. After his capture, the Venezuelan artistic community reacted and turned “viral” the images of his violent arrest. Following a week of intense legal struggle Theis was freed. Like other rebels before him, Theis became an icon for Venezuelan youth.
