In the crystal-clear waters of Moalboal, Philippines, nature stages a breathtaking visual spectacle. A magnificent hawksbill sea turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) glides gracefully alongside a school of millions of sardines, creating the illusion that the turtle is carrying the vast mass of fish on its own shell. This species is classified as critically endangered and plays a vital role in coral reef ecosystems. Although omnivorous, its diet is primarily composed of marine sponges, and by feeding on them it helps control their growth, preventing them from smothering the corals.
